Our Residential Trip
We are now able to offer a Year Five retreat for two nights to the Diocese Emmaus Youth Village, Allensford, County Durham. We will be leaving at approximately 2.00pm on Monday 3rd June and returning at approximately 3.30pm on Wednesday 5th June. The trip will be an opportunity to join with a class from two other schools within the Trust. St. Bede’s, Jarrow and St. John Bosco, Sunderland. Whilst there will be the chance for prayer and reflection, there will also be the chance to experience a lot of fun, through outdoor activities, games and making new friends.
The trip is subsidised by the school and the charge to you will be a contribution of £60, which may be paid in instalments. Children will be in a self-contained chalet with all of the mod cons and all meals will be provided. Many activities will take place in the wonderful grounds but children will be on site at all times supervised by three members of St James staff and the staff from the Diocese Youth Ministry Team. No special clothes or equipment are required, we only ask that no mobile phones or digital devices are brought.
This will be the first time that many of the children will have stayed away from home without their family but it will be great preparation for their 3 day outward bound residential in Year Six to Robinwood.
A meeting will be held after the Easter holidays to share more information, a date will follow. If you are unable to attend this meeting, information will be sent to you and feel free to come in and chat about any concerns. We understand this is very short notice but we wanted to take advantage of this opportunity to give the children a great experience.
