Year 6 SATS Week
On Monday 13th May 2024 SATS week will begin. The hard work and preparation that our children have put in during the past year is incredible. Our Year 6 children have been an inspiration to everyone in our school community especially to our younger children. We are very proud of each and every one of you.
Throughout their time at St James it has become very clear that our current Year 6 class is full to the brim with talent. The children are kind, passionate and resilient, which are some of the most important life skills. We can see future scientists, authors, actors, dancers and athletes within this class and hope that the love of learning and adventure stays with you always.
You have overcome unprecedented events over the last year due to the current RAAC situation on site at St James and have shown that you are an unstoppable group of mature young people. The end of year assessments only account for a very small part of your journey, a journey which will be full of incredible careers, lives and adventures. We are looking forward to our Robinwood residential and to having lots of fun together this term.
It is important to know that we believe in all of you ☺

All of our Year 6 children are invited to attend a free breakfast club at St Aloysius at 8:30am each day of SATS week. This ensures that children can have a full breakfast and enjoy some down time before the tests begin. All children who usually attend paid breakfast club please do so as normal at 8am. It is really important that all children have a good night’s sleep each night. If your child wears glasses please ensure they have them each day.
Any support that you can give your child would be very much appreciated. If you have any questions regarding the assessments please get in touch with the school office who will put you in contact with a member of the Year 6 team.
And just like…
Our Year 6 children have successfully completed their SATS this week. I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for the great attendance throughout the week. All children were here bright and early, enjoying a breakfast together before completing the papers. The children showed great resilience and stamina during the SATS week and were a credit to the school and their families. Thank you to all of the staff involved for making this week run smoothly and calmly. The children were over the moon to receive their Leavers’ Hoodies today which is always the symbol of the final half term together.
