A Celebration fit for a King!

10th May 2023 By lisagillis

We had such a wonderful day here at St James celebrating the Coronation of King Charles III.

In the morning the children learned about the significance of King Charles III’s Coronation and in Year 4 they even held their own Coronation, complete with sceptre, orb and throne! We crowned our King’s and Queen’s for the day.

We enjoyed a wonderful picnic lunch together in the hall organised by Chadwick’s Kitchen and prepared by our wonderful kitchen staff.

In the afternoon the sun came out and all of the children played and danced the afternoon away. Our Year 6 children organised games in the school hall. Year 4 and Year 5 enjoyed dancing and dodgeball. Year 2 and Year 3 enjoyed games of dodgeball and Reception and Year 1 learned some new dance moves led by Year 6.

We raised a substantial amount of money with our buckets out on the yard and all proceeds will be donated to the National Deaf Children’s society charity.

As a keepsake of the occasion, all children received a Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust commemorative book mark!

Thank you to everyone who helped make this day FIT FOR A KING!

A huge well done to our children who took part in the Wanderers Cross Country Event.

The boys were in a team together and performed brilliantly. A special well done to Ruby who was in the individual section was awarded bronze medal.

As always our children were wonderfully behaved and flew the flag high for St James! Well Done!
